Snow family

This is what I made with the wood blocks I painted white. I crocheted each a hat and scarf and painted an orange nose. Glued on two google eyes. Presto a snowman family.

Party on the porch

Last night after the Bama game: Roll Tide!!!! We had a porch full that wanted to do a little karaoke so that is just what we did. The pictures are of a couple of our guy friends singing.

Getting ready for Halloween

I started off the day feeling a little creative. So i got the hubby involved cutting some wood for me. I painted some white and some black. For what you ask? You will find out a little later. ;)

My friend, Margaret, and I have taken the afternoon doing some preparations for Halloween. We made witches brooms and got dead limbs for us a Halloween tree.

My Cricut craft for tonight

I got my vinyl in and had to do something creative. I had some little cups so I made some personalized with dots! Cute!!!

Little stinker

Today and tomorrow I am keeping my youngest grandson company. We had so much fun today. Mimi is teaching him to hold his bottle. Lol!! He taught me that was really my job. He is such a good baby!

Wall 3 up

The hubby got wall 3 covered. But he thought he would just get to put polyurethane on it and be done but no that will not work for me. I wanted barnwood on the other 2 walls. So now he has to get some gray barnwood stain to put on before the poly. He wasn't too happy but he has no style either. Lol! Oh and I put a little surprise behind a knot hole. :)

Trail of tears

Waterloo Saturday. We went over on the boat early so we could get back for the Alabama game. There were a lot of bikes when we got there. But when we left around lunch there were tons of them and the big ride had not even gotten there.

#3 Craft for the Day Little Pumpkin Bag

I said I was going to do the pumpkin pencil toppers for my daughter's kindergarten class but do not have any idea what I have done with my G hook.  So I decided to make a Little Pumpkin Bag.
The bag is about 6 inches long and 5 inches wide.  I figure that is big enough for a treat bag for 5 year olds. LOL!  18 more to go.  I do not have any black or brown felt so I will put the face on them all another day.  The pattern is free on allfreecrochet.com below is the link to the pattern. However, I shortened mine to only 13 rows.  Happy Halloween crocheting.

Making homemade lotion

A friend of mine gave me this recipe last year and I have experimented with different kinds and scents of lotion and this is the one I like the best as far as smell and feel.

15 oz. store brand shea and cocoa butter baby lotion
8 oz. store brand vaseline
16 oz. store brand Vitamin E skin care cream
plastic containers (I got an eight pack of small containers at my local Family Dollar and washed the two larger Vitamin E cream containers and peeled off the labels to use)
Dump all ingredients in a big bowl and using your electric mixer; mix it all together.  It looks just like whipped topping to me when it is all mixed together.

Spoon it into your containers.

Now how easy is that.  Keep one for yourself and give the others as gifts.  You can even print a little label to put on them.  So now I have one big container for home, one big container to carry to my camper, and 8 little containers to give as gifts.  All for about $5. I'm loving it!!!
Hope you make your own lotion to keep and to gift.

My Hand At Painting on Canvas

First I gathered things I would need: canvas, paint, brushes, bottle cap, pen, styro plate.

I painted 2 of canvas pieces Red and one Green. My oldest son came over in the middle of this so I had to stop for a while.

After my son left, he is a truck driver and is now on his way to Michigan, I got started back on my project.  I took a cap off a Dt. Mt. Dew bottle to make an impression of a circle on my canvas in the coordinating green paint.

It looked like this:

The I wanted to put dots around my circle just for some whimsy so I took a sharpie and used the top of the lid for the dots.  Yes I do need a manicure, maybe I can get around to that tomorrow.

After doing lots of little dots, it looked like this:

I did this on both red canvas pieces.  Now I want to fill in my circles. So I just started coloring with the paint brush inside my circles.  I like the not so perfect circles and placement so it doesn't look like I have stamped it on.

On the green canvas I put swirls and squiggles with gold paint and dry brushed the top then went back with red paint swirls and squiggles.
It ain't the prettiest thing in the world but I think I am going to like it when I get done.  Now I am letting everything dry. Back in a while.

All about ME and the blog

Welcome to my blog.  As you can see by my profile picture (and I have on 6" heels) that I am married to a short fellow, LOL! No he is really tall 6'5" and I am really short 5'3".  We are like Mutt and Jeff as they say.

We have 3 children Ramona, Alex, and Trent, a.k.a. The RAT pack as I used to call them, 3 grandchildren Kate, Kamden, and Karson (which makes me the Mimi of the KKK Club), and 2 in-laws Jock and Julie
Is that not the sweetest face you have ever seen?

Trent is my baby and is a Senior in high school this year. YAY!!! I am so excited for him.  The only sport is plays is basketball; he is about 6'2" and has a size 15 foot.  So he would have been as tall as his daddy if he didn't have so much turned down to walk on according to his grandmother.
  Yep! That's my baby boy!

I am a photographer and I sell jewelry.  My great loves besides the two I make a living in and my family are camping, crafting, singing karaoke, and reading.  These are the things I will cover in this blog; so without futher ado, we will start out with camping.

We are members of the F.O.R.T. community in Northwest Alabama. It is a campground where we lease our space by the year. It is like taking a vacation every weekend or about it. We have done a lot of work there with a huge L-shaped porch complete with a grill, bar, karaoke system, and surround sound. We are currently in the process of adding a room on the back. What will it be for you ask? It will be a living/sleeping room, bathroom and utility room. Yes we have a washer, dryer, satellite, and getting internet service. Is that not what you call roughing it? LOL!

We take some awesome golf cart rides and then our porch is the hang out most every weekend for karaoke. There is always someone cooking something. We gather together most every night. This is truly a place where we Got Things To Do. The photo below was taken in April 2011. Guess it is time for a new one. Hmmm...I will have to that this weekend. It has changed so much since then
We get together for holidays.
We Karaoke with a porch full.

We dress up!

And we decorate for holidays.
So as you can see we have lots of fun and it is kind of like back in the old days (except for all the luxuries we have) when communities gathered for fun and fellowship.
We have been in full swing working on our addition.  See I am a die hard Alabama Crimson Tide Fan and my room is called the Bama Room.  So you know it has to be Crimson, white, black, and gray or some variation of those colors.
I love, love, love pinterest and have been truly inspired.  Over the weekend this is what we got accomplished:
 One wall is brick paneling

one wall is done in old tin

I ran out of tin and am on the look out for more in the silver.  The red is done in an A shape or as my friend said it looks like a lego A.  I cannot take credit for the shape of the red; it was my son, Alex's idea; which I love. The hubby and I are still discussing the other 2 walls (but I do have a mural with elephants on it that is going on one wall) and the floor covering is going to be a major discussion.  He thinks he is going to get his way on something.  We will see.

Moving right along to crafting:

With all the ideas on Pinterest, the net, and blogs, and Christmas barrelling down on us like there is no tomorrow, I figure it is time to start creating.  I made a little trip to Wal-mart today which is about 20 miles away and that one is not a supercenter. I picked up a few new supplies so I could get started tomorrow.  I am going to try to make at least 3 things a week to post on my blog with instructions.  My projects this week are painting on canvas, making lotion, and crocheting pumpkin pencil toppers for my daughters kindergarten class.  Tune in tomorrow to see how that goes.
