Boat shed moved

Our big accomplishment last night and today

The boat shed has officially got it's new home. Garry and Alex took it apart last night, hauled it up the hill on the boat trailer, put the frame together, and put the center piece of metal on it in the dark.

This morning Garry and I have put up the rest of the metal. No easy task for the vertically challenged. Lol!  We still like putting the trim on the front and back plus running the conduit and power.

Did I mention that the boat is hanging out at the boat dock while all this is being done?  Yep, the boat trailer is the only thing we could think of that was long enough to haul it all on. I surely hope it's still hanging out at the boat dock.  Brings to mind... You might be redneck...,

Staying in the new house :)

Yay!! We have finally got enough stuff moved in to stay at the new place. Oh my nice soft bed, how I have missed you. Lol!!

This makes the 3rd night to stay in the new house. It is wonderful!!  We still have a boatload to do but we are able to live in it while we do the rest.

The confusing part right now is that we have stuff here, stuff at the camper and room, and stuff in storage; so I have a problem sometimes knowing what is where.  Of course, that will all work out in time.

First part of porch moved!

Wow! What an accomplishment!  We got the big part of the porch moved thanks to Micah, his truck, Tommy, and Dwight. Of course Margaret helped too.

It will be so nice not to have to crawl up in the house.

Now on to the bigger task of tearing down the room attached to the rest of the porch and shed.

Diet new!!!

Oh yes. Every time I put on a piece of clothing I smile because it is not so tight. Lol!

In two weeks I have lost 7.8 pounds, dropped 4" in my waist, and 3" off my hips. Yay!  Two more weeks to lose more before I head to Florida for 2 weeks. I can't wait. It's been a long time since I have seen the beach. I so need that relaxation therapy about now. :)

I kind of got off track there. As I posted before, I am doing the Atkins diet. It's something I found that I thought I could stay on because of the meat eating. I am a meat, bread, and taters girl. I miss my bread and taters but that's a small price to pay for my progress.

Starting this week I can add a few vegetables to the mix like green beans and green peppers.

So for now I hope you all have a hunger free day!!

Finally got power!!!

Finally finished it up Tuesday. So proud. Dan the man also got the septic tank in

We started moving a few things yesterday in between the rain. Got a bed up, my desk put together, dishes washed and put up, under the cabinet light installed, chest for my bathroom, bookcase for pantry in, first section of porch framed up, and closet rods installed. Then back to the camper to take more of the porch apart. I believe one section is ready to cut loose and move up the hill. Whew!! It was a long day!

Today we will try to figure out how to move the porch in one piece. That will save a whole lot of work.

You have got to be kidding me!

Well, the power company did not show back up today.  Ain't that some crap.  It really chaps my booty that they would do such a thing.  It just is not right or fair!  They have had my money for over a week and I still don't have any power.  But they know there isn't a darn thing you can do about it cause they are the only power company.  Well, looks like to me that there needs to be some employee or management changing going on in that place.  Somebody said, well they are Union.  I said that if that is what the Union stood for then it needs to be ban everywhere.  I thought Union stood for an Honest wage for an honest days work.  Well, two to two and a half hours work is not an honest days work so that would mean they are stealing their wages. Right?  It's just a crock and I am not Happy!!!  Makes me wish that every one of them that are delaying me getting power would need something from me so I could make them wait for 2-3 months!  Lord, help me!!

Power company showed up today.

At 9:34 a friend headed to town called to tell me that the power company was about 1-1/2 miles from my driveway. Boy was I excited!  Well that was short lived I must say. From the time they got here until lunch time at 11:30 they set 6 anchors. They got back between 12:30 and 12:40, set the pole closest to the house with the transformer on it by 1:09. I was thinking cool that didn't take long. They moved down to the next place for a pole, we went to get a drink, came back and they were at the end of the driveway. They laid the 4 poles off the truck and left at 1:38.  So much for getting power.  Let's see what happens tomorrow.

The hubby needs to go to work for them. Lol!

On a diet!

Yes, I officially started the Atkins diet Sunday. There are about 10 of us participating in the Carnes Family & Friends Biggest Losers Club. Lol!

Trying to find stuff to eat besides meat is a littke challenging. I found one salad dressing that was carb, calorie, cholesterol, fat, and gluten. I just can't do salad without dressing. It's not to bad either. The most wonderfully delicious thing I found was a sugar/carb free and only 25 calories per serving rainbow jello parfait. Yummy!!

If you know of any yummy foods that are carbohydrate free send me a comment about them.

Getting somewhere...

Maybe now we are getting somewhere. Water is to the building. The septic tank guys are at it right now. Hopefully by the end of the week the power company will get here. But don't hold your breath. Lol. But do cross your fingers.

Okay, so my cousin Tammy that turned 50 this year, my cousin Teresa that turned 50 last December, and myself, you know I turned 50 last May, are going to the beach on July 18th. So...we have all started a diet, along with 6 other family members or friends. I have a nephew that is having some heart problems that has to lose weight so we are rallying to help him also. That's really how it all started. Most of us got together last night for our first weigh in and measure. We hope we will have others to join us for the next weigh in that will occur in 2 weeks.

This has been one happy Mimi the last couple of days. Three of my four grandchildren spent the night with me Sunday night. Even the two year old, which was his first time. Well, we rode the golf cart a lot, played dominos, painted a dozen rocks, and they ate constantly. Lol. Little man was up at 4 am and his big sister was up at 5:30 and that is amazing for her.  We had to wake Kamden up when the pancakes got ready.  We had a great time!!  I loved every minute of it.

The funniest thing that little one did was trying to ride my decorative tricycle! It may never be the same again. Lol

It's been a great two days!

Rain, Rain Go Away!

It has rained sometime or all the time during the day since June 1st. But when it starts the storming, I'm not gonna lie, I'm a big old scaredy cat. Lol!!! With that being said; when the sky looks like this:
My scaredy cat self heads to the storm shelter. A couple of nights we have spent a while in the storm shelter. We were out of power from 7 pm until 2:15 am Saturday night/Sunday morning and from 7:30 or 8 pm until 11:38 pm last night. There isn't much one can do in the dark. I guess that's why people went to bed in the old days at dark and got up at daybreak.

Power install update:
Garry has been on the phone with ADECA and no they won't approve the overhead lines at the corner of the park, even though there are overhead lines everywhere right there.

So, plan #2: cut the trees on my side of the road on the power companies right of way another 150 feet. We like 8 trees having all that finished. If it stops raining any time soon. All 8 of the trees will fall across the road so we will have to stop traffic at both ends each time a tree is cut so 1) no one will get killed, :) and 2) so they can drag the tree out of the road.  Maybe by this time next week we will have a little power. But I'm not holding my breath!!

As for my storage building, I don't know if it will make it through all this rain or not. It has a roof but so far it hasn't rained straight down but sideways from the wind, so not sure that roof is doing a lot of good keeping the floor dry. :(. I know we aren't the only ones with this problem. Garry's uncle is building 8 miles down the road. He has walls but no roof yet. And you know, you have to let that wood dry out before you finish or it will cause mold and mildew. So there is another UGH!!

On to my grand babies.
I spent 5 hours with them Thursday night. Took some newborn portraits of Klaire. My little man Karson had to get in on the picture taking too. He is so funny.  I will post some of the photos when I get them finished. Anyway, I got my loving and hugs fix from all 4 of them. There is nothing better than love and hugs from your grand babies!

On Friday, Johnny, Cody, Annette, and I made the trip to Nashville. Can't say much about that except that Johnny and Cody were so nervous and drawn up on interstate 65 that you couldn't have stuck a toothpick up their tail. It was funny.  What wasn't funny was our lead car, that we met in Columbia, ran off and left us as soon as we hit 65. Now I don't mind going a little over the speed limit but I'm not driving like an idiot, especially in someone else's vehicle; and that was the first time I had ever driven Johnny's truck. Needless to say Johnny won't be going back to Nashville anytime in the near future. Ha! Ha!  I brought them back the scenic route; through Leiper's Fork and down the  Natchez Trace. I just didn't think either one of them could handle 65 twice in the same day.

That's all for now...

You've got to be kidding...

Oh my Lord!! If you ever think about moving to Alabama and the land you buy doesn't already have utilities, you might want to rethink your decision. I know how much trouble the campground had with utilities but assumed it was because it was considered commercial but residential...really????  The water department wasn't too bad. They set the meter yesterday. But the power, Lord help me! However, the stumbling block this week is that the commissioners wouldn't sign an easement for overhead lines that will have to run 60-70 feet across a corner of the County Park. Really???? Plus it's not even used in any way for the park. Geez!!! It just makes me want to throw up!!!  My point is, if you decide to move and build in Alabama get all the utility crap done first. It will save you a whole lot of headaches !

Moving on to the hilltop...the storage building has a roof and walls. The other building has been underpinned in the back so it is ready for the porch.

Those 2 bar stools in the picture came off the side of the road yesterday. It was funny because I know who put them there. Johnny C said something about they didn't stay there 5 minutes and I said, "I know I got them!"  He was surprised. He was telling me they were stinky. I told him I was going to redo them anyway so I would get rid of the stinky. Lol!!  Hey, I will take about anything for free and either use it myself, repurpose it, or find somebody that can use it. Remember, jack of all trades and master of none. What more can I say.

Tomorrow is our appointment with CMT!! It should be interesting. Or it could be a waste of time. You just never know about things like that. Wish us luck!!

I think I will go get cleaned up to go see my babies!!!  Y'all have a great rest of the day!!

Lots of work been going on here :)

How y'all doing today?

We have been working hard on the hill, as well as at the campsite. Started tearing down the shed. Of course my parking space was the first to come down :(. It's heartbreaking taking it down but has to be done. Besides, I will be much happier when it's all finished. Yes I will. But that will take a while.

Dan the man returned with the dozer and backhole to cut down and level the back for the porch, boat shed, and storage building. I did not know there could be that much dirt aka gravel aka chert there. It was a 6 foot pile about 20 foot long at one time.

We have got the post for the porch and storage building all concreted in the ground and the frame  and floor built for the building.

Still waiting on power, water, and septic tank. But hey, who needs a septic tank without water or vice versa. And power well I just can't comment on that one anymore right know.

I'm missing my grand babies today so in the next day or two this old gal will be going to spend the day with them and might even try to coax a few to come home with me. I bet those two boys will want to load up with me but not sure I can get Kate to leave her baby sister. Lol.

I can't forget to tell you about Kamden statying with us the two days his mommy was in the hospital having his little sister. He went fishing both evenings and helped cut up trees and haul firewood the last day. That little fellow is a worker. What time we weren't fishing or working we were playing hay day. Plus he wanted to sleep with me both nights. I was like the meat in a sandwich. Man him and Garry sure do put off a lot of heat when they sleep. So I ended up getting in the other bed during the night. Lol!!!  However, I enjoyed every minute with him. Made some great memories.
First day
Second day

One of our 2 piles of firewood on day three.

I forgot to mention that I planted my first flowers at the new home place yesterday. Don't know what they are; I think some kind of lily.

Last but not least, I'm trying to decide what to call our place. Moses Manor? Hillbilly Hilltop? or hit me with a suggestion.

That's all for now...

The crafty side of life

What things have I been crafting lately?  Not a lot with all the construction and cleanup going on but I did make cupcakes and a cake for my cousins daughters 16th birthday.  My second all fondant cake.  I like the looks of the fondant but hate the taste. YUK!!!  Just give me the buttercream please.  Anyway, here is a picture of the finished cake.  She loved it!

That same day I made a german chocolate cake and a blackberry cobbler. YUMMY!  Just thinking about it makes me want to go bake something.  Okay, I'm over that now.  However, when we get moved and I have counter space and that full size oven I am going to do some cooking.

CMT here we come....

Yes, you read that right.  We have a meeting on June 6th with CMT producers about doing a show here from our camp.  We don't know any details yet but are excited about the opportunity to meet with them to learn more.  Yes, there are many reservations but why worry about it until it is for real.  Never hurts to listen to a proposal.  So to Nashville we will go.  Stay tuned for more!

Driving me Nuts...LOL

This building process is driving me nuts!!!  Okay, I am ready to move furniture in but no power, water, or sewer yet.  Geez, they want an arm and a leg just to run the power, not to mention cutting dang near every tree on the place.  Ridiculous!!! Oh well, the trees are down but good grief the cleanup is going to be dreadful.

Okay, I can't wait any longer.  I have to tell you that my bathroom is wonderful.  It's just a little bathroom for me but I so love it.  This is my sink:

And this is my bathtub:

Don't you just love it!!!  I can't wait to take my first bath!!!  Now you might think I am crazy but hey, how many other people do you know that has a watering trough for a bathtub.  Different!! That's what I like, is to be different.  If I could just get my husband to go along with all the different things I want; we would have a place like no other.  But he can be a real stick in the mud sometimes.  Actually, he was about the sink and tub but now is so proud of himself that I have actually caught him taking credit for those two elements of our house.  LOL! Really?!!

Oh and we have grass! Lots of grass.  Why?  I don't know because it's all going to be dug up putting in the utilities.  So we will just have to plant more grass.  Neverending.

On to another Driving me Nuts topic...

Waiting on grandbaby #4!!

The due date is not until June 1st but she has had all three of the others a little early so we thought we would have a baby by now.  We will have a baby by May 27th though.  I can't wait to meet Klaire.
But all this waiting just drives this old Mimi nuts!!  I am sure a lot of y'all can relate to this scenario.

Baby shower photos

I finally got the few baby shower photos downloaded from my camera. Yay!

The food table...
We had cupcakes (decorated by big sister Kate), fruit with chocolate fountain, chocolate spoons, marshmallow rattlers, nuts, and punch. Behind the table we hung the burlap onsie door hanger, gowns, and onsies for Klaire on clothesline with tiny pink clothespins.

The guests tables...

We alternated pink and black tablecloths on the tables. Each table had a centerpiece of either blocks or a mini diaper cake. Each place had a Minnie Mouse plate, complete with bow, with a napkin diaper favor filled with yummy pastel jelly beans.

The register table...

Instead of a traditional guest book or frame mate to sign in on we used a plain white onsie. It can be framed to put in Klaire's room. I picked up the cute Minnie Mouse at my local Dollar store along with the paper flower. I painted a wood frame pink and put two sonogram pictures along with her name to spruce up the table.

The diaper station...

I got a pack of diapers and two pink baskets for this table. Upon registering, guests were instructed to write a message on a diaper for the mom to be for Kate night diaper changes. Examples: mine said "call Mimi... She's up!"  Kate's said, "hey, wake sissy up...we need to talk!"  One said, "does this diaper make me look fat?"  There were some cute things written on the diapers.

Gifts and guests...

Notice the you in Ramona's hand. That toy belonged to our sweet angel Mighty Malaya.

Motive the pin my darling mother is wearing. It says "great mamaw to be"
Along with this one was "mommy to be", "big sister to be", mamaw to be", and "Mimi to be".

We had lots of fun. :). Klaire got a lot of wonderful gifts that are all greatly appreciated. Now, all we need is the baby. Lol!!

Since the shower, Ramona has had another sonogram. This is my new photo of Klaire.
Getting closer to birthday time every day

Kitchen flooring installed.

Oh my, I love my kitchen floor too.

Above is the sweetest man that put down my flooring but he sure dies like to aggravate me!  Thanks Ronnie!!!
It really looks awesome with my cabinets. Getting closer everyday.

Garry also got the window trimmed out in the craft/bedroom #2 so that room is complete. He and Alex got my tub put in place, not plumbed yet but it is sitting in the bathroom. We almost got the plumbing completed under the floor but was missing a few parts that I went after tonight. Of course it's suppose to rain the next 2 days and be cold so I guess that is put on hold until Wednesday or Thursday. I'm sure we can use the two days off to rest and catch up the laundry and cleaning. Lol!

Y'all be safe from the storms tonight and tomorrow.

Baby Klaire's shower a success!

Kate came that Friday night to decorate the cupcakes.

The baby shower was a huge success.  I still haven't downloaded the photos from my camera though. As soon as I do I will post some.

We did manage to get the chocolate fountain going. We had cupcakes, chocolate spoons, marshmallow rattlers, fruit for the chocolate fountain, nuts, and punch.

She got lots of clothes, diapers , and wipes. Klaire got a very special gift, a hungry caterpillar toy that was Malaya's. (We lost her last November to ATRT brain cancer. She belonged to Garry's cousin Ingrid. We are all still heartbroken over her loss.).  Klaire will treasure that toy when she is older and we tell her the life story of Mighty Malaya!

Our little Angel. Mighty Malaya.

It's been a few weeks...

Wow, I have been so busy the last few weeks, hence no post due to exhaustion. Lol!

The building is almost complete, believe it or not. In the craft/bedroom #2 all we like is trimming out the window (we almost forgot we had not done that yet) and inserting the pocket door.

In the kitchen we like the floor covering, appliances, light fixtures, and moulding. As a matter of fact, my floor guy, Ronnie, is going to install my flooring tomorrow. Yay!!!

In The closet, just like putting the shelving and hanging bars up.

The bathroom likes the toilet and tub. And the master bedroom likes the a/c, trimming it out, and the sliding barn door.

Oh and building shutters outside for the 2 windows.

Now let me tell you about the intense arguments that have arose in the last few weeks. The hubby has been on a real argumentative streak lately. I mean everything I mention, he wants to argue with me about it. When will he ever learn that I am always right is beyond me. This may seem a joke to you but so far I have been right on the money on every single thing. Yay me!!!

First, the cabinet dilemma...I really wanted my cabinets to look like old barn wood. I searched the internet until I found the technique that would result in that look but noooo... He knew how to do that because he looked at one thing on the internet. So we get what he thinks will work...any kind of latex paint and stain on top of that, leave it a minute and wipe it off. So he gets gray flat latex paint and ebony stain. He paints the wall cabinets one day while I am applying polyurethane to trim. The next morning he gives me the speech about putting the stain on waiting a little bit and then wipe it off. This is what it looked like:
Epic failure!!! So from then on he was mad. So I paint these again and dry brush some black paint on them. This was the second look:
Which wasn't bad until he puts polyurethane on them. Luckily I got up there before he got it on all of them. It was horrible. The poly took almost all the gray paint off. It looked like my 2 year old grandson had a paint brush. Lol!!
Now I just want them to look decent. So yesterday, I sent him after semi gloss gray paint and I painted them again along with the base cabinets. Today I rubbed stain over them and put a coat of poly on them and I love them.

So ends the cabinet craziness.

Problem #2 was the master bedroom walls. My vision for the side walls was 2-1x6 tongue and groove boards together turned on the flat side with a 1x4 tongue and groove board painted off white and sprayed with the stone texture to mimic mortar to produce a log cabin feel. Well, that's not what I got. I just got tired of arguing with him and this is what I got...for now anyway.
But I do love my stone wall.

He argued with me last night about a road sign and a sign on a storage building. So on the way home last night I stopped at the road sign, yes I was correct. Today on the way to Lowe,s I showed him the storage building sign; right again!!!  When will he ever learn?  Ha! Ha!

But I must tell you what a wonderful job he did in the bathroom. I love, love, love my bathroom. I finally found a cabinet I liked for my vanity, sanded, and polyurethaned it. He cut the drawers down, put the sink in, and the faucet.

Cabinet originally found at
The Rust-i-dime thrift store. (Outside of it minus the record player)

Inside of it.

This is what it looks like in my bathroom now

Yes that is a galvanized bucket as my sink and corrugated tin on the walls. I love it!!!  Wait until you see my bathtub. He also put shelf insets on 2 of the walls.
See how beautiful everything looks when he listens and does it my way. :)

I love all the flooring. Both bedrooms have the same flooring, the bathroom and closet looks like rock, and the kitchen; I will show you after tomorrow.

That about wraps up the building progress to date.

Now...
Got Things To Do :)
