Baby shower photos

I finally got the few baby shower photos downloaded from my camera. Yay!

The food table...
We had cupcakes (decorated by big sister Kate), fruit with chocolate fountain, chocolate spoons, marshmallow rattlers, nuts, and punch. Behind the table we hung the burlap onsie door hanger, gowns, and onsies for Klaire on clothesline with tiny pink clothespins.

The guests tables...

We alternated pink and black tablecloths on the tables. Each table had a centerpiece of either blocks or a mini diaper cake. Each place had a Minnie Mouse plate, complete with bow, with a napkin diaper favor filled with yummy pastel jelly beans.

The register table...

Instead of a traditional guest book or frame mate to sign in on we used a plain white onsie. It can be framed to put in Klaire's room. I picked up the cute Minnie Mouse at my local Dollar store along with the paper flower. I painted a wood frame pink and put two sonogram pictures along with her name to spruce up the table.

The diaper station...

I got a pack of diapers and two pink baskets for this table. Upon registering, guests were instructed to write a message on a diaper for the mom to be for Kate night diaper changes. Examples: mine said "call Mimi... She's up!"  Kate's said, "hey, wake sissy up...we need to talk!"  One said, "does this diaper make me look fat?"  There were some cute things written on the diapers.

Gifts and guests...

Notice the you in Ramona's hand. That toy belonged to our sweet angel Mighty Malaya.

Motive the pin my darling mother is wearing. It says "great mamaw to be"
Along with this one was "mommy to be", "big sister to be", mamaw to be", and "Mimi to be".

We had lots of fun. :). Klaire got a lot of wonderful gifts that are all greatly appreciated. Now, all we need is the baby. Lol!!

Since the shower, Ramona has had another sonogram. This is my new photo of Klaire.

Kitchen flooring installed.

Oh my, I love my kitchen floor too.

Above is the sweetest man that put down my flooring but he sure dies like to aggravate me!  Thanks Ronnie!!!
It really looks awesome with my cabinets. Getting closer everyday.

Garry also got the window trimmed out in the craft/bedroom #2 so that room is complete. He and Alex got my tub put in place, not plumbed yet but it is sitting in the bathroom. We almost got the plumbing completed under the floor but was missing a few parts that I went after tonight. Of course it's suppose to rain the next 2 days and be cold so I guess that is put on hold until Wednesday or Thursday. I'm sure we can use the two days off to rest and catch up the laundry and cleaning. Lol!

Y'all be safe from the storms tonight and tomorrow.

Baby Klaire's shower a success!

Kate came that Friday night to decorate the cupcakes.

The baby shower was a huge success.  I still haven't downloaded the photos from my camera though. As soon as I do I will post some.

We did manage to get the chocolate fountain going. We had cupcakes, chocolate spoons, marshmallow rattlers, fruit for the chocolate fountain, nuts, and punch.

She got lots of clothes, diapers , and wipes. Klaire got a very special gift, a hungry caterpillar toy that was Malaya's. (We lost her last November to ATRT brain cancer. She belonged to Garry's cousin Ingrid. We are all still heartbroken over her loss.).  Klaire will treasure that toy when she is older and we tell her the life story of Mighty Malaya!

Our little Angel. Mighty Malaya.

It's been a few weeks...

Wow, I have been so busy the last few weeks, hence no post due to exhaustion. Lol!

The building is almost complete, believe it or not. In the craft/bedroom #2 all we like is trimming out the window (we almost forgot we had not done that yet) and inserting the pocket door.

In the kitchen we like the floor covering, appliances, light fixtures, and moulding. As a matter of fact, my floor guy, Ronnie, is going to install my flooring tomorrow. Yay!!!

In The closet, just like putting the shelving and hanging bars up.

The bathroom likes the toilet and tub. And the master bedroom likes the a/c, trimming it out, and the sliding barn door.

Oh and building shutters outside for the 2 windows.

Now let me tell you about the intense arguments that have arose in the last few weeks. The hubby has been on a real argumentative streak lately. I mean everything I mention, he wants to argue with me about it. When will he ever learn that I am always right is beyond me. This may seem a joke to you but so far I have been right on the money on every single thing. Yay me!!!

First, the cabinet dilemma...I really wanted my cabinets to look like old barn wood. I searched the internet until I found the technique that would result in that look but noooo... He knew how to do that because he looked at one thing on the internet. So we get what he thinks will work...any kind of latex paint and stain on top of that, leave it a minute and wipe it off. So he gets gray flat latex paint and ebony stain. He paints the wall cabinets one day while I am applying polyurethane to trim. The next morning he gives me the speech about putting the stain on waiting a little bit and then wipe it off. This is what it looked like:
Epic failure!!! So from then on he was mad. So I paint these again and dry brush some black paint on them. This was the second look:
Which wasn't bad until he puts polyurethane on them. Luckily I got up there before he got it on all of them. It was horrible. The poly took almost all the gray paint off. It looked like my 2 year old grandson had a paint brush. Lol!!
Now I just want them to look decent. So yesterday, I sent him after semi gloss gray paint and I painted them again along with the base cabinets. Today I rubbed stain over them and put a coat of poly on them and I love them.

So ends the cabinet craziness.

Problem #2 was the master bedroom walls. My vision for the side walls was 2-1x6 tongue and groove boards together turned on the flat side with a 1x4 tongue and groove board painted off white and sprayed with the stone texture to mimic mortar to produce a log cabin feel. Well, that's not what I got. I just got tired of arguing with him and this is what I got...for now anyway.
But I do love my stone wall.

He argued with me last night about a road sign and a sign on a storage building. So on the way home last night I stopped at the road sign, yes I was correct. Today on the way to Lowe,s I showed him the storage building sign; right again!!!  When will he ever learn?  Ha! Ha!

But I must tell you what a wonderful job he did in the bathroom. I love, love, love my bathroom. I finally found a cabinet I liked for my vanity, sanded, and polyurethaned it. He cut the drawers down, put the sink in, and the faucet.

Cabinet originally found at
The Rust-i-dime thrift store. (Outside of it minus the record player)

Inside of it.

This is what it looks like in my bathroom now

Yes that is a galvanized bucket as my sink and corrugated tin on the walls. I love it!!!  Wait until you see my bathtub. He also put shelf insets on 2 of the walls.
See how beautiful everything looks when he listens and does it my way. :)

I love all the flooring. Both bedrooms have the same flooring, the bathroom and closet looks like rock, and the kitchen; I will show you after tomorrow.

That about wraps up the building progress to date.
